Marilia Bezarra

Marilia Bezarra serves as Managing Director, Philanthropy at Synergos, managing a community of leading philanthropic families and social investors to fight poverty and social injustice in their own countries and in the world. She thrives contributing to human progress through partnerships and innovation.

She draws upon her background as member of the executive leadership at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).
During her five years working with President Clinton, she took a central role in building the organization from its start-up phase to a catalyst for action and global convening body that has brought together 150 Heads of State, 20 Nobel Prize laureates, hundreds of leading CEOs, heads of foundations and NGOs, major philanthropists, and members of the media, to work together on the world´s most pressing challenges.

Marilia Bezerra is concerned with the challenge of bringing solutions to the scale of the problems we face today and sees the establishment of meaningful collaboration and partnerships as the first order of any business.

She grew up in Brazil and received her law degree from the Federal University of Ceará. Bezerra also has a master’s degree in global affairs from New York University.

Marilia is a serial marathon runner who is blessed with two amazing daughters who challenge and inspire her every day.
